WordPress Update

I just updated this blog to the latest version of WordPress.  <Sigh>  I sure got tired of seeing the “nagline” at the top of the screen.  Guess it was overdue, since it was still using version 2.3.3   WordPress was really having a hard time with video too; even YouTube videos wouldn’t render properly, with or without the <object> tags.  In the past I would sometimes have to delete ‘em completely and just use the embed code with the <param name=”movie”></param> and <embed src=></embed> tags, but even that didn’t work anymore.
So…the turning point came last weekend after a post with an [...]

A Note about Vote

It felt good to vote today.  We’ve been tuned into CNN, MSNBC and FoxNews for the past two days soaking in the election polls and listening to the pundits trying to forecast our political future.
We left the house right after eight this morning trying to beat the crowds we had been seeing on the TV.  Armed with morning coffee and a newspaper, we arrived at the middle school prepared to stand in line and wait our turn to vote.  I parked right in front of the Obama signs across the street, noting the light traffic in front.  Much to our [...]

Daylight Savings Time ends

Can you believe it’s already November?  Autumn has made it’s entrance into south Texas with cooler temperatures.  Halloween has passed and the holiday season is right around the corner.
It’s time to fall back.  Yes, daylight savings time ends tonight.  Remember to set your clocks back one hour, as the United States goes back on standard time.

Collision at Northwest Regional Airport

This is the most bizarre crash landing I’ve ever seen at a small private airport.  This incident happened last Thursday at Northwest Regional Airport, about 20 miles northeast of Fort Worth, Texas.

Schwan’s Foods

I flagged down a Schwans truck in our neighborhood this evening.  I had seen them around town and remembered how great their foods are.  We had their service years ago and I was always satisfied with their products.
Everything from their cheese bread to their ice cream is good.  And I love the home delivery.  It’s old fashioned, but it’s still a valid service today, especially with gas prices rising toward four dollars a gallon.
Tonight we got the Ice Cream Pizza, which is a chocolate brownie topped with vanilla ice cream, and drizzled with chocolate fudge with M&M Minis on [...]

SignTheGoogleGuestBook - Mikiesoft Was Here

There’s a new Blog Meme posted at Blog The Internet by Garry Conn. I found it via CyberCoder’s post on Ramble On.
I’ve never seen a search engine Guest Book before, but there’s something new every day now, isn’t there?  The whole idea is to see how many results we can get on the SignTheGoogleGuestBook SERP.
Just make a post and title it with SignTheGoogleGuestBook - Your Name Was Here
Then Digg it, StumbleUpon It and spread the word.

Thanks to CyberCoder

I’d like to give a big Thanks to CyberCoder for helping me update the DailyRover.  As my personal blog, it needed a few changes, and you were able to step right in, see what needed updates, and run with it.
It may seem obvious, but it’s so true.  Focus on your strengths as a team and you’ll be more efficient.  That sure works for me.
