I saw this in the Google Apps Marketplace…Easy video creation with Stupeflix Studio.

The free version is pretty basic and your video creation is limited to one minute, but it does have some cool features, like professionally designed themes and transitions, plus a sharing feature to export your video to YouTube or Facebook. You do have to allow permission for the application to connect, just like Facebook does for sharing. That calls for a certain amount of trust, doesn’t it?

Plus you’ve got to have Google Apps installed on your server, which is not an average daily user thing. But it’s a huge deal for small business, and a great group collaboration tool, if you can afford it.

The Stupeflix Studio App allows you to mix and mash up photos and videos, add text to any image or video, add in a soundtrack anywhere in the timeline, create discrete groups to separate videos and images, and manipulate special effects in each group.

There’s five different slide transitions, or what Stupeflix calls a “group effect,” applying that effect to anything inside that particular group. Auto is set by default, which cycles through all five transitions.

There’s no way to tweak audio levels in the basic free version, and video editing is limited to the time you allow for each element inside a group. Video runtime starts at zero, there’s no way to edit different segments of a video, start at 0 and set the time per element, just like a slide show.

Unlike YouTube who’s announced their online video editor, where you can trim the beginning and/or ending of your videos. Plus YouTube gives you the ability to add soundtracks from their 10K file AudioSwap library, and you don’t have to fret about file formats. Plus they say it’s one click publishing now without the upload.

Nice!

Fade to black…

Fiesta began as a way to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto, and has grown into a celebration of San Antonio’s diverse cultural heritiage.

S.A.’s biggest party is happening with hundreds of events…this year is Fiesta’s 119th anniversary.
Fiesta Calendar of Events

Pin Pandemonium is a popular event where Fiesta fans buy, sell and trade pins and medals at the Main Plaza.

Many local organizations like the Witte Museum and the Womens Club of San Antonio benefit from these sales, and some pins are limited editions, like the Battle of Flowers and Fiestas Fantasias.

A Night in Old San Antonio, (NIOSA pronounced “knee-oh-sa”) is a four-night event with 15 ethnic areas serving fabulous foods in over 250 booths. April 20 – 23, from 5:30 to 10:30 pm in La Villita National Historic District, the 18th century Spanish neighborhood on the banks of the San Antonio River. Proceeds go towards preserving historic sites and customs.
NIOSA on Facebook

The Fiesta Flambeau Parade has been called America’s largest illuminated night parade. The “People’s Parade” streams through the streets of beautiful downtown San Antonio on it’s 2.6 mile journey during Fiesta Celebration Week with bands, music, dancers, horses, cars, and floats illuminated by thousands of lights. This year’s Grand Marshal is San Antonio native, international performer and recording star Vikki Carr. The Parade is Saturday Evening April 24th.

The Battle of Flowers Parade, produced entirely by women volunteers in yellow, is the oldest event and largest parade of Fiesta. It’s got everything you’d want in a parade; spectacular flower-covered floats, colorful costumes and dresses, striking uniforms, giant helium balloons, decorated horse-drawn carriages and antique cars, R.O.T.C. units performing precision drills, military, college, and high school bands, flag carriers, local civic and military groups, and businesses and members of the Fiesta royalty.

A floral tribute is placed on the lawn in front of the Alamo honoring it’s heroes, assisted by the Texas Army National Guard. Battle of Flowers Parade is Friday April 23, Vanguard at 11:35 am and Parade at 12:45 pm. The Parade this year will be televised by KABB FOX-29.

Fiestas Fantasias at Market Square present free concerts on five stages with Tejano, International, Reggaeton, and Norteno music.

online.journalism.utexas.edu is the web site of the International Symposium on Online Journalism at the University of Texas at Austin.

Since 1999, editors, producers, executives and scholars have met at this annual conference held in Austin, to discuss the progress of online journalism.

Such notable publications as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times and The Chicago Tribune are represented, along with media companies MSNBC.com, AOL.com and ABC Interactive.

As the conference grew over the years, it expanded into academics and research as well, involving organizations like Jupiter Research. It’s now an international symposium attracting professionals from all over the world.

The next Symposium is coming up on April 23rd and 24th in Austin. The conference is also webcast live. I found the following video on their YouTube Channel.

April 2009 Panelists from the “10 Years of the Symposium” discuss topics from 1999′s symposium & what they think will be the topics in the next ten years.

It’s a worthwhile seven minutes to listen; as a founder of the Motown sound, a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Robinson shares his views on success.

It’s wonderful to hear an artist like Smokey Robinson up close and personal like this. Thanks to the South By SouthWest conference organizers for putting these videos up on their YouTube Channel!
