Happy Holidays from Enzo

Happy New Day. Happy New Year

The 2008 Christmas season gave its own special memories—times of laughter, excitement, peace, renewed faith, and tiresome duty. We shared times that were well-planned, spur-of-the-moment, and mundane. All of them too fleeting. I have a lot of goals for 2009. Contracts to fill. Marketing to accomplish. School lessons to teach. Suppers to cook. Souls to feed. My soul to feed. There is no way to keep up with all I need to. We all know the drill—prioritize, which feels like a euphemism for: make

Whoa Nelly

Do ya’ll say that? Or is it just me? I like that saying…among many others. Anyway, it is POURING the rain here. And it has rained off and on since before Christmas and I am sick and tired of it. They say that it is really going to pour here tomorrow though, which means that the little shopping center in the middle of Hick Town will flood, the roads will be horrible and everyone will be driving like idiots. That might would be picture worthy though. Yes, it is sad what we consider exciting here.

Packing Light For Costa Rica

The kid gave me a luggage scale for Christmas, so I can say with some certainty that I'm heading to Costa Rica with 28 pounds of luggage -- a carry-on weighing 12 pounds and a small bag weighing 16 pounds. That total includes my new Acer Aspire One netbook (2.8 pounds), three paperback books and a hardcover. If I weren't such a geek, I could definitely bring the whole thing in under 25 pounds. Nineteen days with less than 25 pounds worth of clothes and personal hygiene items. Well, better to

Sad Day On Broadway

Sad Day On Broadway January 5th, 2009 Thrown To The Street? Tonight while walking through New York’s Theater District we passed the above discarded show advertisements. It seems that folks did not wait a beat (no pun intended) in taking them down. Second Half of the Season

The second half of soccer is upon us.  After one week of weather delays and two weeks for Christmas break, tonight we were supposed to start back BUT we had to cancel practice again with near freezing temps and freezing rain and ice.  I mentioned to the head coach earlier today that we needed to get together and get a game plan down for the spring season.  He just said “We need to Win.” Yep that’s for sure. So Wednesday we are back at it and now adding next Saturday  since we missed tonight.

JIM JONES CHARGED WITH ASSAULT OVER NE-YO INCIDENT!!!

A meeting with New York City authorities this morning (January 5) has resulted in a misdemeanor assault charge for rapper Jim Jones. The Dipset leader turned himself in to the NYPD’s 18th Precinct to discuss an alleged Christmas Eve altercation. According to several conflicting reports, Jones was involved in a melee with singer/songwriter Ne-Yo and members of [...]

Leather Clutch by Kim Cathers / kdon

What a most wonderful Christmas present!  My lady Kim Cathers made me this leather clutch as a Christmas gift.  She’s off on Galiano island loving life but trudged through the snow and ferries for a holiday visit. She created this clutch by shaping the leather around a rock.  So it has the perfect little pouch that’s [...]

Year in Review - 5 days late

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone is off to a good start.  Mine was off to a bit of a rocky beginning - my furnace died on 1/1, and it actually gets cold in Houston.  My sweet Mom came to the rescue once again by bringing me two space heaters.  Thank goodness the repairs are going to be made tomorrow.  For the second year in a row I participated in Donna's Secret Santa Christmas Swap, and my Secret Santa was Rose; and funny enough, I was her Secret Santa too.  Rose made me this lovely bag, it

Names for Quilts

I spend more time trying to think of names than it takes me to come up with designs.  Any names come to mind for this one? It has purple green and gold so it could be named something mardis gras related.  But when I make it, I might make it in red, white and blue . . then mardis gras names wouldn’t be appropriate. And, there’s the possibility I could make it in traditional Christmas colors!  Then neither a mardis gras or a patriotic name would work. Have you noticed what adversity I fa
