Grubb & Ellis 2009 Commerical Real Estate Forecast


From the News Release: Grubb & Ellis Company today released its 2009 Global Real Estate Forecast, which indicates that 2009 will be a challenging year for commercial real estate with the economy starting the year 13 months into what may become the longest recession since the 1930s. “The economy will struggle in 2009, which will dampen demand for all product types, resulting in negative absorption and increased vacancy,” said Robert Bach, senior vice president, chief economist of Grubb & Elli

Evergreen Solar Shuts Pilot Factory, Takes $25M Write Off


Evergreen Solar, which makes solar panels, has shuttered its pilot factory and plans to take a $25 million write off as a result, the company said Monday. The move should help the Marlboro, Mass.-based company save money, a much-needed move as it tries to weather recession. It’s one of a growing list of solar companies that have vowed to cut costs as they face a lowering demand for their products. LDK Solar, a Chinese silicon wafer maker, on Monday cut its sales and shipment forecast for 2009.
