Mischa Barton and her Sitar
Former OC starlet Mischa Barton has been learning about new religions and learning a new instrument during her stay in India. The 22-year old actress recently posted a blog saying “I must say my goal coming here was to learn to play the sitar and it’s coming along real slow as apparently it’s not that easy to procure a great sitar teacher here, I guess it not late 60’s with Ravi Shankar and George Harrison roaming around unfortunately!!!!” She’s so coherent when she blogs. I hope that she loo
[Video] TauTona Gold Mine
Another video from our bloggers’ trip to South Africa. In March 1886, nearly forty years after the California Gold Rush, legend has it that Australian gold miner George Harrison stumbled across a rocky outcrop of gold in what was then the Zuid Afrikaanse Republiek. Says Wikipedia: “Ironically, Harrison is believed to have sold his claim for less than 10 Pounds before leaving the area, and he was never heard from again.” That 10-pound claim soon transformed into a mining village called Ferreir

The Coolest Beatles Songs You Might Have Missed, Vol. 5
Today's list is the fifth installment in a series that will run every Friday for the next few weeks, in which I'll highlight my favorite lesser-known Beatles tracks. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr wrote and recorded such consistently amazing songs that, even if you ignore all their #1 hits and everything on their famous Red and Blue best-of compilations (which I've been doing for these more obscure Beatles lists), there are still dozens and dozens of amazing songs,
Delaney Bramlett RIP
It is with some sadness that I note the passing of Delaney Bramlett, who died last Saturday. For many of us he was just Delaney, as in Delaney and Bonnie and Friends. Friends who played regularly with Delaney and Bonnie, friends who included Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, George Harrison, Dave Mason, Leon Russell and Rita Coolidge. Here’s the full line-up as shown in Wikipedia: Delaney Bramlett Bonnie Bramlett Eric Clapton Duane Allman Gregg Allman George Harrison Leon Russell Carl Radle
Thursday Stuff
A couple to ring in the New Year: I put up a clip of Delaney Bramlett a couple of days ago that didn't do him justice, I think, but I found this which I think is a much better tribute - "Coming Home," with then-wife Bonnie Bramlett in 1970 with the group that would eventually become Derek and the Dominos (Eric Clapton, Jim Gordon, Carl Radle, and Bobby Whitlock), part of "Delaney and Bonnie And Friends" along with a fellow named George Harrison......and Meredith Brooks ("Bitch" - no particular r
