Twitter is not yet in widespread use for the majority of NASCAR drivers, teams and sponsors. But there’s a few people at the front of the pack embracing Twitter. Bobby Labonte says his tweets help fans relate.

All it will take is a couple of major drivers to start using Twitter, and then everyone will follow suit. That seems to be the trend.

So far, Sprint Cup drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson are not on Twitter yet. Some drivers have passed on social networking because of phony accounts being used by imposters. However, Twitter has Verified Accounts now, like Bobby Labonte and Kasey Kahne.
