UNT's Dennis at practice
North Texas senior guard Collin Dennis was a last-second show at today's practice after being suspended for Saturday's game at Arkansas. Dennis, who has occasionally tested coach Johnny Jones' patience in his two seasons in Denton since transferring from South Florida, didn't show up for UNT's New Year's Day workout and was out of contact with the coaching staff for a day or so. Jones found Dennis and told him to stay home over the weekend. UNT had a home game New Year's Eve in which Dennis pla

I have been reading lately. A lot. It is a Christmas gift I gave myself. Unfortunately, the time that I have spent reading is when I would usually be doing some blogging. I’m halfway through Leven Thumps and the Wrath of Ezra, and I think it’s the last book that I have to consume for awhile. (But there’s always the public library, right?) Did you check out our book sale? Please help out North Texas GIG. We have too many books left over from the conference. (And help me out - I now have t

North Texans in New York Arts
Marlene Dumas, Moshekwa, 2006, oil on canvas While on a quick, freezing-cold trip to New York City over the holidays, we kept running into North Texas connections. First, it was at the Museum of Modern Art, which I confess I hadn’t visited since its renovation/expansion several years ago (said renovation being something of a disappointment, except in improving the traffic circulation). A short stop on the fifth floor to check out the new cafe inevitably led us, as always, into the museum’s tr

Ferris City Manager David Chavez said the Ellis County town approved the policy because it was becoming a dumping ground for unwanted pets. People dr
